Travel Tip #2 for Bootstrappers

Lately, I've been renting full size cars for less than $20/day, in a variety of locations around the country, in some instances much less than half of what I'd pay going direct to the agency, by using Hotwire.

Hotwire has a service similar to Priceline's (which I've found great for hotel bookings) that's great for car rentals for some reason.  They hide the name of the car rental company but that doesn't really bother me, as car rentals are pretty commodized.  Everytime for me so far it's turned out to be Hertz... which has caused me to question why I am a Hertz Gold member as that clearly doesn't get you the best deal.  Sometimes you can get a better deal going direct or with a corporate program especially for trips longer than 2-3 days, but this service rocks.    Thank you Tom, for your comment.  When you are bootstrapping, ever nickel helps.

I think that you've got the url incorrect. My best guess is that you're talking about hotwire.com not hotwired.com

Thanks Dwight.
